Stacks is a clean, modern block-stacker in the tradition Alexey Pajitnov started in 1984. Seven shapes fall into the well; you shift and rotate them into place, complete rows vanish, and everything above settles down. The rules take ten seconds to learn, which nicely hides how much room there is to get genuinely good.
It keeps the modern comforts — a hold slot for banking a piece, a ghost outline showing exactly where a drop will land, and a 7-bag randomizer that deals every piece once per bag so you're never truly starved of the long one — wrapped in a minimal, readable board.
Tip: Keep the stack flat and save the long piece for four-row clears.
Hold (the C key) banks the current piece so you can swap back to it later — once per drop. The ghost is the faint outline showing exactly where your piece will land if you drop it now.
Instead of picking pieces at random, the game shuffles all seven shapes and deals the full set before reshuffling. Droughts are bounded — you can never wait more than twelve pieces for the long one.
Yes. The level climbs as you clear lines, and pieces fall faster with each level.
